LodiWire Asks: How Would Legalized Same-Sex Marriages Impact Local Churches?
by Mia on 30. Aug, 2010 in Commentary, News
Proposition 8, the amendment to the California constitution which provides that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized,” was recently declared unconstitutional in federal court. The decision is now wending its way through the federal appeal system and may ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court.
Local media extensively covered opinions of clergy regarding Prop 8 during the 2008 election and to a lesser degree following the recent court decision; however, there has been a dearth of discussion about the affect legalized same-sex marriages might have on the faith community. LodiWire contacted more than a dozen Lodi clergymen with this question: What impact would legalizing same-sex marriages have on your congregants or the day-to-day affairs of your church? (more…)

Inky is a young spayed cat with the most beautiful gold eyes. She loves to cuddle and give kisses. Inky is just content being with humans, as she doesn’t seem to like other cats. She also has a bit of spunk, like a kitten, and loves to play when she is in the mood. She will attack the sheets on the bed and anything with catnip in it. Inky is truly a treasure. If you would like more information about Inky please call PALS at (209) 224-0342, or email us at pals.lodi@yahoo.com. (more…)

To Our Readers: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
by admin on 06. Sep, 2010 in Commentary, News
LodiWire has reached a difficult crossroads; as our readership continues to grow by leaps and bounds, our original pool of contributors has declined. With 400-500 plus unique users each day, the pressure to continually post fresh content is more than the remaining few with full time jobs and significant family responsibilities can manage. We had a powwow this weekend to decide whether to double down, sell advertising, and make a go of it as a business or let it go. Comparing our busy schedules, we realized that none of us could even make it down to the police department this week to glean the log book, and next week was not looking much better. None of us is able to quit our jobs to devote full time effort to growing LodiWire as a business, and neglecting our families for a hobby was not an option. Regretfully, this will be the last regular post to the front page of the website; however our contract with the web host does not expire until spring 2011. We have decided to leave the site up with the forum functional for the next several months so you may still register and post here if you wish. Mia, Franklin, Rent-a-wreck, Mommy of two, Jose Viernes, Bon Spectacle, and the rest would like to thank all of you for dropping by. Building the website, authoring content, and interacting with our readers has been a wonderful experience.
